BioHiTech Global, main green technology player on the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S., on November 2, 2017 has acquired the license for building of a plant cover by Entsorga’s patent.
This first license, valued at $ 6.1 million, provides for a designed capacity of 165,000 tons per years which the company estimates could generate approximately $ 12 million in annual revenue upon reaching full utilization. BioHiTech expects to use the license for a planned project in New York State.
The licensed technology has been successfully deployed from Entsorga at seven facilities located throughout Europe which currently process in excess of 1 million tons of solid waste per year. The process recovers almost 80% of municipal solid waste by integrating OEM sorting equipment with patented Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) technologies into a dedicated plant. Due to the use of this system the disposal of waste is cost effective and results in a number of environmental benefits including:
- a significant reduction in the amount of mixed municipal solid waste that ultimately is disposed in landfills
- the recovery of biomass, plastics and other carbon materials
- the production of EPA recognized, high calorific solid recovered fuel to help reduce harmful emissions
“We are excited to take this significant step forward in our company’s corporate evolution.” commented Frank Celli, CEO of BioHiTech Global. “This transaction accomplishes a number of strategic goals including paving the way for us to build our first plant with Entsorga’s technology, significantly enhancing our balance sheet and working for meet the qualifications for our future Nasdaq quotation. We have also strengthened our relationship with Entsorga as it now becomes a relevant stakeholder in our company. I am confident that together we can create a future value for our stockholders as we roll out this important waste treatment technology.”
